Mission Statement

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) formed the Citywide Colon Cancer Control Coalition or “C5” in March of 2003. The C5 mission is to help New York City attain colon cancer control goals through advocacy, resource development, and policy initiatives. The C5 partners with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Cancer Prevention and Control Program of the Bureau of Chronic Disease. The central goal of the C5 is to strive for universal colon cancer screening by colonoscopy for all eligible New Yorkers 50 and older. C5 promotes this goal by bringing a diverse group of individuals and organizations – stakeholders - together to share information, resources, studies, and promote activities and policies known to influence colon cancer control.
