Description:
The Colorectal Cancer Speakers Bureau is a joint project of the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (NCCRT). The primary goal of the project is to provide a cadre of knowledgeable, trained physicians to speak on colorectal cancer science, practice and resources in a wide variety of settings across the country. We do have some funding to assist with speaker travel. Please click on the attachment below to download an application for assistance with travel funding.
Twenty-five highly motivated physicians from across the U.S. have received intensive training on colorectal cancer science, the recently updated multi-organizational screening and surveillance guidelines, the NCCRT’s “Primary Care Clinician’s Evidenced-Based Toolbox and Guide” and other ACS/NCCRT CRC resources, and are now available to speak on these topics to medical and lay audiences. Depending on the setting and the sponsoring organization, these presentations may be eligible for physician CME credits.
Intended Use:
This program is intended for primary care physicians who address cancer education, prevention and early detection issues with their patients. The presentation cuts through the confusion and misinformation surrounding colorectal cancer screening, and give physicians the facts to help their patients make informed decisions and to save lives through increased screening.
Task Group:
Professional Education and Practice
Additional Details:
The NCCRT and the American Cancer Society are now devoting resources to promoting and disseminating colorectal cancer screening guidelines, the CRC Clinician’s Guide and corresponding tools through the development of the Colorectal Cancer Speakers Bureau. This effort is designed to educate and inform physicians and to affect behavior change around colorectal cancer screening. We do have some funding to assist with speaker travel.
